Sunday 4 Sept 2011

It's been a while since I started this blog but hope to find more time to spend on it and share news of this beautiful mangrove area.
Last Sunday, September 4th I visited PNM with 'Bootje Varen Bart'.
Highlights: Black-and-red Broadbills and Copper-throated Sunbirds (the female doing all the work) are breeding in PNM. Both built their nest over the waterway to the little lake, in fact very near the place of the opening photo of this blog.
New for PNM: passing through were a Chesnut-winged Cuckoo and some Yellow-rumped Flycatchers.
There were juveniles of quite a few species. Of note were along the dike: Painted Stork (14 of 20), Scaly-breasted Munia, Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker and in the mangroves: Oriental White-eye.

The ramp, walkway, the jetty to get into the kayaks, and the toilets at Ra's house are being repaired.

Here some photos:

Although much reduced, cutting is still going on....
